FROM THE ARTIST
In today’s world, we are inundated with so much information that it has become a hindrance in how we function with ourselves and with others on a daily basis. My objective through my art is to inspire, first and foremost, others to ask the “what if…” My own inspiration is powered by nature herself; the trees, bugs, flowers, really whatever grasp all of my senses and the compositions/ shapes and forms serendipitously found out in nature, mainly. I create landscapes and floral imagery that is playful allowing me to express my inner child it’s a very spiritual place. Viewers of my work can reflect inwards and let go of whatever emotions they are feeling and can focus on places they imagine themself to be if they need to escape from reality.
ARTIST'S BIOGRAPHY
Vanna Black, a self-taught artist, and skilled graphic designer who obtained her BFA from Georgia State University in hybrid design. Her art displays colorful, motion-filled landscapes and floral imagery that is Inspired by African motifs and Japanese Landscape Art. She uses her art as a visual metaphor and message to get people to connect back to nature to enhance their mental wealth. Vanna’s mission is to use composition, color, scale and balance to open the viewer's mind for internal reflections about one's own thoughts on the world and other perspectives. She visualizes a world where everyone is nurturing each other while learning about how to be self-maintaining like Nature.
Being an Atlanta native, raised in Ormewood Park neighborhood of Atlanta GA, She connects with her inner child a lot. And Truly believes her childhood community is expressed throughout her art. Vanna is an active member of CreativeMornings, a global media company, of the Atlanta chapter and is currently a member cohort of the fellowship for PaintLove non-profit organization working with under served children using Art as Therapy.
Vanna’s client list consists of Sustainable Forestry Initiative, Atlanta Downtown Improvement Development, Oakland Cemetery, City of Atlanta, Namara Agency, and even Hermès. She has created a few local residential mural and art collectors also. And continues to open herself up for further collaborations and commissions.
